World of Warcraft is an intense game with millions upon millions of die hard fans. These fans are playing this massive multiplayer online game at all hours of the day, through the night, and spend countless hours on the internet. No other game seems to garner as much fan fare, which is interesting to note. One of the most special character types in the game is the dreaded Death Knight. These characters are feared in World of Warcraft, and they start to appear at level 55. Getting there for a player is quite hard, but it must be done in order to get this character.
Death Knights are very great at inflicting damage and are somewhat like tanks. There are three types of Death Knight, each one dealing a considerable amount of damage. Getting a good Death Knight Leveling guide is important to distinguish between the major options that are present in regards to the Death Knight character. The Xbox 360 is a seventh-generation gaming console manufactured and marketed by Microsoft Corporation based in the United States. This console was launched by Microsoft on May 12, 2005, as a successor to its first gaming console – Microsoft Xbox. The most prominent feature of Microsoft Xbox 360 is the Xbox Live service. Other than allowing the users compete online and download arcade games, this paid service also facilitates downloading of TV shows, music, movies, etc. As of today, only the Xbox 360 S version of this gaming console (marketed as Xbox 360) is in production. While its previous versions such as Xbox 360 Core, Xbox 360 Pro, Xbox 360 Elite have all been discontinued. As of June 30, 2010, Microsoft has sold 41.7 million units of Xbox 360 all over the world.
Which is Better: Wii or Xbox 360
That brings us back to the Wii and Xbox 360 comparison which can be broadly categorized into technical differences between the two consoles and performance of the two. While Nintendo Wii uses the IBM PowerPC-based ‘Broadway’ CPU, Xbox 360 has 3.2 a GHz PowerPC Tri-Core Xenon CPU to its credit. In terms of Graphics Processing Unit, the former is armed with a ATI ‘Hollywood’ graphics chip while the latter sports a 500 MHz ATI Xenos GPU. This invariably means that the Xbox 360 is better than the Wii in terms of graphics. As far as the Wii vs Xbox 360 storage capacity comparison is concerned, the Xbox 360 has a definite advantage with detachable hard drives of up to 250 GB capacity, removable memory cards of 512 MB capacity and on-board storage chips over Nintendo Wii which is armed with a 512 MB Internal flash memory SD card, SDHC card and the Nintendo GameCube Memory Card.
As far as the performance is concerned, it is kind of difficult to tell which one is the best. Nintendo Wii has an edge owing to its Wii Remote, which gives an all new meaning to motion gaming. The motion sensors in Wii are much more efficient, and thus add to your gaming experience as you can get involved in your games physically instead of sitting in that lazing couch. What makes Xbox 360 stand out tall are its amazing technical specifications which make gaming a visual treat. And then there is Xbox Live (only if you are ready to pay that extra subscription though) which gives you access to all the music and videos you can possibly download. Read the rest of this entry »

MMOG currencies was first introduced from the popular game EverQuest (EQ) with their currency “platinum”, also known as “plat”. Since the first pioneers of selling plats on Ebay, many have argued and frowned upon those that have ever purchased plats online. I recall many players harassing others with foul names such as “newb” and “ebayer”. It has been over 5 years that everyone has been arguing whether the secondary market of trading MMOG money would ever be accepted.
Since the introduction of EverQuest platinum, there were probably more than 70% of players that wouldn’t even consider purchasing plats and discriminated against those who did. As of today, the numbers have been reduced extraordinarily. About 40% of the players now purchase currencies, 30% still disliking the idea and 30% of the other players probably does not care too much and may purchase some them selves in the near future.
Although online game currency is still a new trend to the online gaming community, it is getting popular at a very hasty rate. Within the end of 2010, I believe even the publishers themselves will support the foundation of the secondary market. Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) have now begun their own EverQuest 2 gold auction system and planning to start a new MMORPG in which they intend to sell currencies and items themselves. With their support, I’m sure the secondary market will be accepted over a period of time.
The secondary market is only as successful as the primary. With the release of World of Warcraft (WoW), there are now more than 4.5 million subscribers. A vast majority of those players are probably new to the MMORPG world. A large increase of subscribers means alot more potential for the secondary market. So far, World of Warcraft gold has been the hottest seller of the year and perhaps a few more years down the road. With the huge demand on, many players have even started a career in which they collect money, items and other virutal assets and sell them to players or to stores who may buy them at wholesale price and resell it back to individuals.
The secondary market one day may even be bigger than the primary. Many gamers of today probably spend more on buying currencies, items and equipments than their subscription fee. The publishers themselves can’t even deny the fact that there are lots of money to be made in the secondary market that over a vast period of time I’m sure they will be selling their virtual assets themselves. As for whether the players will support it or not, I believe is just a matter of time before acceptance, of course there will always be a few who will dislike the idea. Many World of Warcraft players today likes to buy WoW gold, items, accounts and power leveling sessions, but blizzard along with other players consider this an act of cheating. Well, you have the ability to enhance your character to a much higher level or better quality items, weapons, armors and other equipment with real money. It’s unfair for those players who does not have the extra cash to spare or would prefer to play it the old fashion way. But for example, we all know what Nintendo is right? Well when game shark came out did Nintendo try to stop or prevent them from selling? No, they didn’t. But of course, for those who chose to cheat the game was not required to play with others that didn’t want to cheat. So that is one conclusion as to why players and Blizzard does not approve of selling or buying gold.
Disruption from Warcraft gold farmers. Yes I’m sure we’ve all experienced that farming now a days have been a little difficult due to the overwhelming population of WoW gold farmers. If gold wasn’t able to be sold using real money the farmers wouldn’t exist and players would probably be able to enjoy the game more. Perhaps blizzard should enforce a law to farming? Or allow players to tag a mob and allow them preparation time to kill the mob they were targeting? Well, Blizzard is not a government and even if so, the government today isn’t perfect either.
Another reason why I can understand players hate the idea of buying/selling gold is because it disrupts the economy. If there is excess gold, then the value of gold drops and the value of the item will rise causing players to spend more gold on the item than what they would normally need to pay. Basic economics 101, inflation and deflation. A player can only farm an X amount of gold over a given period of time. The more gold there is, the more the item will cost, the more a player will have to farm unless they purchase the gold of course.
Well with all these problems involving selling gold, why hasn’t Blizzard done something? I believe they probably are working on a solution but believe it not, farmers do make up about 30% of their population. Somewhere in the back of their mind I’m sure they don’t want to get rid of all subscribers. What they do instead is ban a few at a time and they would be required to buy a new world of warcraft cd key. Extra cash flow for the mighty O Blizzard. Yes farmers and sellers do get their accounts banned. But have not heard of any buyers getting banned however. Lucky for us?
As some of you may know, another popular mmorpg publisher is Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) with their many leading titles including the first MMORPG hit EverQuest, Star Wars Galaxies, and EverQuest 2. Why am I bringing up SOE? Because they have introduced the Sony Exchange. The Sony Exchange is a secure market place for players to auction their currencies and items to other players for real cash. In return SOE of course takes in a small fee for themselves. Charming isn’t it? Well along with this new innovative idea, they also of plans of releasing a new game where they will be selling currencies and items themselves. That pretty much just beats the second paragraph of not cheating. But of course I’m sure they will create specific servers where the purchasing/selling of virtual assets will not be allowed.
